The Wrigleyville neighborhood of Chicago is most famously known for its namesake building, Wrigley Field, and the Cubs that call it home. The area is also home to a vibrant mix of restaurants, bars and residences. The tightly-packed streets carry a high volume of what can be, at times, chaotic traffic.
According to some residents of the area, there need to be more traffic control devices at intersections in order to prevent harm to motorists. A motorcycle accident that took place earlier this month in Wrigleyville lends support to that belief. Just a few blocks away from Wrigley Field, a motorcycle was traveling along the road when it collided with a car. A witness to the crash said that particular intersection is susceptible to collisions.
The car was in the process of making a left-hand turn, which can present a number of dangers for motorcycle riders. Due to their reduced profile, drivers may not see oncoming motorcycles. The dangers may be enhanced at night, when a motorcycle’s single headlamp seems to blend into those of other cars. The accident in this case took place at 10:30 p.m.
The two people riding on the motorcycle sustained injuries in the accident, although they were reported to be relatively minor.
Negligent driving behavior can be at the root of many automobile accidents. Drivers have a responsibility to obey the traffic laws, including yielding to other vehicles where the rules of the road demand it. Victims who are harmed by the negligence of another may be able to seek compensation for their injuries.
