Matthew M. Gannon

Matthew M. Gannon concentrates his practice in personal injury, construction negligence, product liability, medical malpractice, and workers’ compensation.
Mr. Gannon has repeatedly earned excellent results for his clients. His long record of winning verdicts in complex cases and securing seven and eight figure results has earned him a reputation as one of the top trial attorneys in Illinois. In recognition of his outstanding legal work, Mr. Gannon was named as one of Illinois “40 Attorneys Under 40” by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.
In every year that Mr. Gannon has been an attorney, he has been selected as an Illinois Emerging Lawyer, an honor bestowed to less than 2% of all attorneys licensed in Illinois. In 2015, he was appointed to the Board of Advocates by the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He was also elected to the Board of Managers of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, a position he has held since 2016.
During a six-month time period, Mr. Gannon obtained over
$51 million on behalf of his clients. These results were obtained in multiple areas of the law including construction negligence, product liability, medical malpractice and premises liability.
Mr. Gannon obtained $9.85 million for a Local 150 operator who underwent a medical device implantation that led to a post-surgical infection.
Mr. Gannon also obtained an $8.55 million result for a construction laborer who suffered a crush injury involving multiple fractures of his leg. While litigating this case, Mr. Gannon uncovered evidence that the equipment that caused the injury was not being properly supervised at the time of the occurrence.
Mr. Gannon also obtained $4.15 million for a carpenter who fell from a scaffold resulting in multiple injuries.
After a multi-week trial in Cook County, Mr. Gannon obtained a $4.6 million verdict in a medical malpractice case for a grandmother who experienced complications during an angiogram procedure. Later that year, Mr. Gannon underwent another multi-week jury trial in Morgan County and obtained a $2.5 million verdict in a product liability case for the family of a 20-year-old who was killed in a pole-vaulting accident. This was the highest ever recorded verdict in Morgan County history.
Mr. Gannon is a third-generation union member. During and post- college, he operated heavy equipment as a Local 150 Operating Engineer. He has extensive experience representing the labor community and has dedicated a substantial portion of his practice to serving union members throughout the country.
Mr. Gannon earned his undergraduate degree with honors from Merrimack College, where he attended on a football scholarship. He earned his law degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago School of Law, where he excelled in the advanced trial advocacy program.
